I first want to one finger salute my administrative law final. It will soon be posted on a little old Jewish lady's fridge in Israel and she and her friends will point and snicker and laugh about how dumb American law students.....hahaha non-legislative rules, eat a wheel barrel of assholes.
Now on to more important matters. I'm going home in a week. I haven't been back to Utah since the summer of my first year of law school. I've been able to see family at Jarren's wedding and Christmas in Indian, etc. Recently I've gotten reacquainted with many old missionary buddies. I have great memories of them from Ecuador when we were all younger versions of ourselves. It's been probably ten years or so. Most of them have wives, kids, careers and mortgage payments. I'm sure most of them are still really involved in the church, and I say good for them. Much has changed since those two years South of the border. I for one have given up the church, found out my favorite vices are bourbon and women. Both frowned upon by the church....well except for women, the more the merrier. Just kiddin'. I'm a little nervous for the questions. Oh how's the church out in Minneapolis? Oh, is your girlfriend Mormon? Oh, how many beers have you had since we've been here?....six...wow. I do hope they ask me if I am happy. I would say, with the exception of Administrative law...yes. I am so incredibly lucky. I have a chance to sit my butt in a law school classroom for almost 3 years now. I have a great girlfriend, great friends. I couldn't ask for more. Except for a job in Washington state. I'm working on that still. They may judge and say that I'm going to hell and they are probably right. But hey, hell sounds like a lot more fun, I'm sure there is a lot of bourbon there anyway. I am happy with my choices and don't think that I've should have chosen differently. I have learned. I have learned a lot about myself and about the world around me and for that I am thankful.
On the other hand, I have some friends that are ready to crack one open and throw a few back. Some of them are even church buddies who are now drinkin' buddies. Regardless, I just hope that I'm not still spewing alcohol from my pores when I hang out with the Mormons. It would be a little awkward. Regardless, it will be a good time.
So, this time next week, I'll be drivin'. Drivin' back to Utah to enjoy the mixed company.
