Today is Easter which alone incites thoughts of Deity or Paganism, which also kinda rocks. Also reading a Time magazine article about Einstein & Faith http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1607298,00.html One of the things that I thought was very interesting was that Einstein was quoted as saying that he didn't necessarily believe in God but he said that if you get underneath it all there is something that happens that cannot be explained. He said that he venerated that inexplicable thing. Einstein mentioned a strong influence by a Jewish philosopher Spinoza.
Spinoza, first subscribed the separation of the body and mind. Later, Spinoza changed his views about the body and mind and joined them into one single identity. He purported that nature and God where both the same reality. Spinoza claims that there is only one set of laws that govern the reality of which surrounds us and we are of a part.
It was a very thought provoking idea, if God and nature were the same. Starting with the big bang that if followed the laws of Nature/God. I've heard it say that the "miracles" that Jesus performed where all according to natural laws. Put differently, when Jesus healed the sick he was just restoring their cells to the most healthy, natural state. Taken to the big bang theory, it is hard to claim that the big bang just so happened to be without a little help from an unseen force. I've heard it compared to taking the alphabet and putting it in a bag. Mix the letters up in the bag and throw it into the air and when it comes down all the letters come down in alphabetical order. Could it happen? Yes, Is it a miracle? Maybe. Whether that is God or not I don't know.
I think it is interesting to really dive into something. I agree with Einstein that I think you get to a point where you have to say, there is something that happens that I just don't know how it works but it just does. The expansion of the universe is happening at an exponential rate and it happens without explanation it just happens.
I think maybe I agree with Spinoza and I would say that maybe nature is divine. I've seen some pretty beautiful sights in my life and if not divine definitely an artist.
