Disgruntled Health Care

My brother, my Grandpa, and now my sister all have the flu. My brother was running a fever of 105 which is a little high. My Mom due to my other brother being so sick when he was younger was educated in how to handle it. The fever went down a bit but my brother was still sick. Mo took him to the clinic. When she approached the desk, the person there asked for her insurance information. My Mother told her that she did not have any. The lady replied indignantly, "you know this office call could cost up to $60." Side note: My family comes from an area that is on the lower middle to lower socioeconomic scale. I would imagine that it would not be something new not to have insurance around those parts. Fortunately my Mom and my sick Brother were quickly seated. The Doctor came in and my Mom explained the situation. They tested him for strep throat. My Mom told her that it's not strep everyone knows the symptoms of strep. Oddly, enough the strep culture came back negative. Mom said to the Doctor that it might be the flu. The Doctor insisted that no it couldn't be, there had been no cases in Utah, but there had been many in Colorado. Frustrated with the Doctor, Mom left. I have found in my advancement in a professional career that there is a type of Wizard of Oz veil. We go to experts and expect them to be just that, experts. Not the case in neither health care, nor law.
